Champagne Cocktail - How to Make a Fancy Mimosa

Need a simple champagne cocktail idea? Then go with the classic mimosa.

The classic mimosas is an equal parts blend of champagne and orange juice - which I usually find too sweet. I adapted this recipe and this champagne mimosa cocktail will go perfectly with a sweet Sunday brunch. I made this mimosa with a demi-sec champagne but you can also make this with a brut or sec style of champagne. To learn more about sugar levels in champagne, click here. I will adapt this recipe with a brut champagne and share my thoughts on in future posts. This is a super simple and easy recipe that only requires 4 ingredients.

Ingredients:

Brut Champagne

Angostura Orange Bitters

Fresh Squeezed Juice of half an orange

An Orange Twist

Start by chilling your champagne flute - you can do this by placing it in the freezer or by placing ice cubes in the glass (I used ice cubes as I was nervous about leaving the glass in the freezer). Then you will squeeze half of the orange into the flute glass. Fill the glass with champagne it is a good idea to leave some room at the top of the glass in as there will be some slight fizz. Next you will add around 3 dashes of orange bitters in the champagne flute or coupe. Lastly, garnish with the orange twist. Serve immediately to your guests. This cocktail is best served chilled.

This cocktail is so easy and takes only a couple of minutes to make. It is the perfect way to begin the day because champagne for breakfast is always a good idea. This will go perfectly with a sweeter brunch since I used a demi-sec champagne - I would pair with chicken and waffles. I will be sharing a lot more champagne cocktail recipes to ensure you are ready to host your next party. Simple adaptations can change the flavor profile and different champagnes can also alter the end result.

I will be sharing more simple champagne cocktail recipes with you! Stay tuned.
